Mission Partners

In the fall of 2012, Calvary raised money for five hundred Bibles to be donated to five Mazahua churches. In four Sundays their expectations were doubled!  Now, because of the generosity of this congregation, MVM was able to buy2,000 Bibles which are being distributed to new Christian believers in twenty-four Mazahua churches. We are thrilled that Calvary has chosen to partner with MVM by placing the word of God in the the hands of the Mazahua people. In March 2013, a group from Calvary visited and were able to distribute Bibles to pastors and churches.

My name is Pastor Daniel Daum. Several years ago, I was introduced to the ministry at MVM. I was a student at The Master’s Institute in St. Paul, MN. As part of our seminary experience, we were required to participate in a short term mission trip during the month of January, 2008. This trip started as just another seminary assignment, but ended as so much more. A vision for a small town church was planted, and this summer we saw that vision take root as I once again ventured to Mexico and MVM.

The year I returned from that 2008 mission trip, the congregation I serve at Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte, SD, was looking for ministries to support. Specifically, we were looking for an international ministry. We had grown tired of sending mission funds through a central office, never to have an opportunity to build relationships with those we support. There is no challenge in simply writing a check. There is little spiritual growth in simply writing a check. We were looking for a ministry to support which we could walk along side, building relationships and encouraging one another in the process. MVM was just what we were looking for.
I have to tell you though, things didn’t go exactly as I had envisioned. It took us a few years to get off the ground, but this summer we did, literally, and took a group from Trinity for the first time to MVM. We flew out of Minneapolis with a group from Calvary Lutheran Church. The trip was a blessing in many ways; more than I could recount here. We met a great group of people from Calvary. We were blessed as we worked with the children of the Mexican village we served. We were touched to hear the stories of other brothers and sisters in Christ living in Mexico. It was a privilege to take part in MVM’s educational ministry. Relationships were being built, and in some cases, renewed. That which we had envisioned in 2008 was coming true before our eyes, and what a blessing it is.
Now that we are on a roll, we don’t plan on stopping. These last two summers, we have taken our youth and families to lead Vacation Bible School in Xhinte de Lagos and this next summer another youth trip is already in the works. We look forward to seeing Tacho, Sally and their children again as well. The kingdom is built on relationships; a relationship first and foremost with God and His Son, Jesus Christ. But it is also built on relationships with fellow believers. What a blessing it is!
